9th International Water Conference Begins Today in Islamabad

Islamabad: The 9th International Water Conference (9IWC) on “Water Security and Socio-Economic Development” began today at 9:00 AM at the OIC-COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad. The two-day conference, taking place on May 6–7, is organized by the Riphah Institute of Public Policy in collaboration with the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), WaterAid, and COMSTECH.

More than 80 scholars will present their papers under diverse sub-themes, including Environment and Climate Change, Food and Agriculture, Glaciology and Snow Hydrology, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Circular Water Economy, Policy and Governance, and Artificial Intelligence for Water Security.

Ministers, diplomats from different countries, and researchers are attending the conference to engage in discussions on water security, climate resilience, and the critical role of water in driving socio-economic development. The conference aims to promote knowledge exchange and strengthen regional and international cooperation on water-related issues.
