Islamabad : Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a significant one-on-one meeting at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad. The discussions, held in a warm and cordial environment, covered a broad spectrum of bilateral, regional, and international matters of mutual interest, particularly those concerning the Muslim Ummah.
Both leaders focused on mechanisms to enhance bilateral cooperation, aiming for concrete results in various sectors. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to the Malaysian Prime Minister on Malaysia’s upcoming Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025, expressing optimism for future collaboration.
Prime Minister Ibrahim acknowledged Pakistan’s continued engagement with ASEAN as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner and conveyed support for Pakistan’s greater involvement in ASEAN affairs. Both sides discussed expanding cooperation and fostering deeper ties between Pakistan and ASEAN.
The leaders also reflected on the long-standing close cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the bilateral partnership. They emphasized the significance of maintaining high-level dialogue and exchanges to further fortify relations.
To this end, both Prime Ministers underscored the importance of established mechanisms like the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) and Bilateral Consultations, reiterating their shared vision to elevate engagement at all levels and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
