Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif met Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, to discuss bilateral relations, trade links, cultural exchanges, and avenues for enhanced cooperation in various sectors.
During the meeting, the ambassador extended an invitation to the Chief Minister to visit Azerbaijan, which she graciously accepted. Both sides agreed on joint efforts to promote trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.
Reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cultural and educational ties, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif briefed the ambassador about Punjab’s ongoing development projects and public welfare initiatives. Ambassador Farhadov praised these efforts, particularly highlighting the Chief Minister’s dedication to advancing the public service agenda initiated by Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif.
The Chief Minister invited Azerbaijan to explore investment opportunities in Punjab, and Ambassador Farhadov expressed keen interest in several sectors. She emphasized the importance of President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to Pakistan in fostering stronger bilateral relations.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated, “Pakistan and Azerbaijan share a brotherly bond with immense potential for strengthening cooperation. We can significantly enhance collaboration in education, healthcare, agriculture, and energy sectors.” She also announced a special incentive package for Azerbaijani investors and expressed interest in learning from Azerbaijan’s expertise in the tourism sector.
“We are committed to transforming Punjab into a hub of regional trade,” she added.
Ambassador Farhadov remarked, “Azerbaijan views Pakistan as a close friend and brotherly nation. Under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab’s development is progressing remarkably.”
