Maldives Defence Chief Calls on COAS, Hails Pakistan’s Role in Stability

Rawalpindi: Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Maldives Armed Forces, called on General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), at the General Headquarters, where both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, including bilateral defence cooperation and regional security dynamics, said an ISPR news release.

During the meeting, the two military leaders expressed satisfaction over the enduring bonds of brotherhood and friendship between Pakistan and the Maldives, underscoring their shared perspectives on key regional issues. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

Recognizing the evolving security landscape, both sides emphasized the importance of closer defence cooperation, particularly in capacity building, training exchanges, and counterterrorism efforts. The discussions reflected a shared resolve to address emerging security challenges through sustained military-to-military engagement.

The visiting dignitary lauded the Pakistan Army for its professionalism, dedication, and contributions to regional stability. The visit of Major General Ibrahim Hilmy is seen as a significant step in reinforcing defence ties between the two nations, further solidifying their strategic partnership.
