Tashkent: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was warmly received by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Tashkent Congress Center on Wednesday. The Prime Minister was accorded a guard of honor at his arrival on Tashkent Congress Center.
The formal welcome ceremony began with the playing of the national anthems of Pakistan and Uzbekistan, followed by a guard of honour presented by the smartly-turned-out contingents of the Uzbek armed forces.
After the formal reception, both leaders introduced their respective delegations before proceeding to bilateral discussions. The talks are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as regional connectivity, trade, investment, energy, defense, security, regional stability, and education. These discussions underscore the shared commitment of both nations to deepen their strategic partnership and explore new avenues for mutual growth.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Investment and Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi.
Later in the day, both sides are expected to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements to formalize their commitment to bilateral cooperation. The prime minister will also address the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum, which aims to boost trade and investment ties between the two countries.
In addition, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit the Techno Park in Tashkent to observe Uzbekistan’s advancements in the construction industry, highlighting the potential for collaboration in infrastructure development and technology transfer.
This visit marks a significant step forward in Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations, with both nations poised to strengthen their partnership in pursuit of regional stability, economic growth, and shared prosperity.
