Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for acknowledging Pakistan’s contributions to counterterrorism efforts in Afghanistan. In a post on his X handle, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with the United States to ensure regional peace and stability .
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the country remains resolute in its efforts to eliminate terrorism in all its forms. He noted that Pakistan has made immense sacrifices, with over 80,000 soldiers and citizens losing their lives in the fight against terrorism.
Meanwhile, President Trump, in his address to a joint session of Congress, thanked Pakistan for its assistance in the arrest of a key terrorist behind the 2021 Kabul airport bombing, which claimed the lives of 13 American service members and many civilians. Calling it a significant achievement, Trump stated that the capture of the mastermind was a crucial moment for the affected families.
The developments underscore the ongoing counterterrorism collaboration between Pakistan and the United States, reaffirming their shared commitment to eliminating global security threats.
