Railways Minister, UAE Envoy Explore Joint Investment Opportunities
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Monday met with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Al-Tahiri to discuss bilateral cooperation, particularly in the rail sector. The envoy congratulated Abbasi on assuming his new role and conveyed his best wishes for his tenure. He also expressed deep sorrow over the recent terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express in Balochistan, condemning the incident and extending sympathies to the victims and their families, according to a news release.
During the meeting, both sides acknowledged the strong and longstanding ties between Pakistan and the UAE. Ambassador Al-Tahiri reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening this partnership, emphasizing mutual respect and friendship. The minister highlighted Pakistan Railways’ ongoing efforts to improve services through strategic partnerships with domestic and international suppliers.
The two officials explored opportunities to expand economic and trade relations, with a focus on railway projects and broader investment prospects. The minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and encouraged UAE investment in railway infrastructure. Both sides agreed to continue discussions and enhance collaboration in the rail sector and other economic domains.
