Tourism Diplomacy: Uzbek Delegation Arrives for Landmark Tourism Forums in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Islamabad, with the active support of the State Committee for Tourism of Uzbekistan, is set to organize a historic series of tourism forums across Pakistan. Scheduled from April 9 to 11, 2025, the forums will be held in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad, marking the first time such an initiative is being undertaken to promote tourism and cultural exchange between the two countries.

The series will begin in Lahore on April 9, where the Uzbek delegation will engage with local tourism stakeholders, cultural representatives, and government officials. The event will feature dedicated B2B and G2B meetings, aiming to build tourism partnerships and open new investment channels. The forum will conclude with a cultural evening showcasing live musical performances by Uzbek artists and a rich buffet of traditional Uzbek cuisine, offering Lahoris a taste of authentic Eastern hospitality.

On April 10, the delegation will move to Karachi, Pakistan’s bustling commercial capital. The Karachi forum will focus on exploring trade-linked tourism opportunities, given the city’s strategic economic role. Business sessions between travel companies, tour operators, and hospitality stakeholders from both countries will be held. Later in the evening, attendees will enjoy a celebration of Uzbek music and culinary delights, featuring dishes such as fragrant plov, crispy tandoor-baked samsa, and other signature specialties prepared by renowned chefs including Bahreddin Chusti.

The final leg of the tour will take place in Islamabad on April 11, where the Uzbek representatives will meet with federal tourism authorities, diplomatic officials, and media partners. The Islamabad event will serve as a culmination of the three-day forum series, consolidating the outcomes of previous engagements and charting a future roadmap for tourism collaboration. As with the other cities, the forum will conclude with a grand cultural event, bringing together music, food, and friendship in the scenic capital city.

The forums will be attended by a high-level Uzbek delegation comprising over 30 members. Among the delegates are senior officials from the State Committee for Tourism, popular performing artists, acclaimed chefs, and representatives of prominent media organizations. Their visit underscores Uzbekistan’s strong commitment to fostering people-to-people and business-to-business linkages with Pakistan and promoting regional connectivity through tourism.

Beyond tourism and economic collaboration, the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Tourism Forums represent a broader vision of friendship and spiritual closeness. By bringing together the artistic, culinary, and commercial strengths of Uzbekistan and Pakistan, the initiative seeks to open new avenues of cooperation while deepening mutual respect and shared heritage between their peoples.
