Mohsin Naqvi, U.S. Envoy Discuss Bilateral Ties, Regional Peace in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with the United States’ Acting Ambassador to Pakistan, Natalie Baker, in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss matters of mutual interest, with a particular focus on bilateral relations and enhanced cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the regional situation, including the post-ceasefire environment between Pakistan and India. Both officials acknowledged the significance of maintaining peace and stability in South Asia and expressed the desire to strengthen diplomatic efforts in this regard.

Minister Naqvi expressed his appreciation for the role played by the United States in facilitating the recent ceasefire. He credited U.S. President Donald Trump and the American administration for helping to prevent escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. “The credit for the ceasefire between two nuclear powers goes to President Donald Trump,” he said, adding that it was a major contribution to regional and global peace.

Naqvi also welcomed President Trump’s recent remarks praising Pakistan’s leadership, stating that such sentiments were a source of encouragement. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation with the United States across a range of sectors, including security, development, and governance.

Acting Ambassador Natalie Baker reiterated the United States’ desire to maintain strong ties with Pakistan. “We have excellent relations with Pakistan and look forward to continued cooperation in various areas,” she said. Federal Secretary for Interior Khurram Agha was also present during the meeting.
