BEIJING:  Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM) of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, arrived in Beijing on Monday for a three-day official visit from May 19 to 21. He was warmly received at the airport by senior Chinese officials and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, according to a news release from the DPM Office.

During his stay, Senator Dar is scheduled to hold wide-ranging talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and other high-ranking leaders of the Chinese Communist Party. As per the Foreign Office, the discussions will cover bilateral relations, regional developments, and avenues to strengthen cooperation under the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China.

Speaking to media prior to his departure, the DPM emphasized the deep-rooted ties between the two nations, describing China as a major trading partner and reaffirming the iron-clad friendship between Islamabad and Beijing. He noted that the visit follows two recent telephonic conversations with FM Wang Yi, who extended the invitation for this trip.

Senator Dar added that his engagements in Beijing would also include dialogue on political, regional, and global issues, including the prevailing tensions between Pakistan and India. Responding to a query, he highlighted Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic outreach to counter India’s baseless accusations, particularly regarding any threats to nuclear facilities.
