Pakistan Rejects Modi’s Provocative and Baseless Remarks
Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday categorically rejected what it termed “baseless, provocative, and irresponsible” allegations levelled by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a recent public address in Rajasthan, calling the remarks a dangerous attempt to inflame regional tensions for political gain.
In a strongly worded statement, the Foreign Office said the Indian Prime Minister’s assertions were replete with “distortions, misrepresentations, and inflammatory rhetoric” that not only mislead the public but also reflect a gross disregard for the norms of responsible statecraft.
“Resorting to threats and boasting about military action against a sovereign nation is a serious violation of the United Nations Charter and international law,” the statement read. It added that such belligerent posturing undermines regional peace and security.
Reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to global counter-terrorism efforts, the statement rejected any insinuations linking the country to terrorism as “factually incorrect and patently misleading.” It said these tactics are frequently employed by Indian authorities to deflect attention from their own domestic problems, particularly human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
“India’s attempts to mask its grave human rights violations in IIOJK by scapegoating Pakistan are well-documented and increasingly recognised by the international community,” the Foreign Office noted. “No amount of aggressive rhetoric can obscure the legitimate and just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.”
Calling for responsible conduct from New Delhi, Islamabad urged the Indian leadership to refrain from warmongering and focus instead on resolving long-standing disputes through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy.
“Pakistan remains committed to peaceful coexistence and regional stability. However, our desire for peace must not be mistaken for weakness,” the statement warned, stressing that Pakistan’s armed forces and people are fully prepared to defend the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement concluded with a call to the international community to take serious note of India’s aggressive posture and “hate-driven narratives,” warning that glorification of conflict serves no one and threatens the fragile peace of South Asia.
“The path to lasting peace lies in dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law,” it asserted.
