No Evidence Linking LeT to Pahalgam Incident: Pakistan Foreign Office

Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday reiterated its firm stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, emphasizing that zero tolerance and international cooperation remain central to its counter-terrorism policy.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan underscored its longstanding role as a frontline state in the global fight against terrorism. It highlighted the country’s significant contributions to international peace and security, including the recent apprehension of Sharifullah, the mastermind behind the deadly Abbey Gate bombing.

The statement also addressed the recent incident in Pahalgam, stating that investigations remain inconclusive. “The incident occurred in the internationally recognized disputed territory of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K), and the matter is still under investigation,” it said.

The Foreign Office strongly rejected any alleged linkage of the incident with the defunct Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which is a banned organization in Pakistan. “Such claims belie ground realities. Pakistan has effectively dismantled the concerned outfits, prosecuted their leadership, and undertaken comprehensive deradicalization programs,” it added.

Responding to developments related to U.S. domestic legal designations, the statement said that India has a history of exploiting such listings for anti-Pakistan propaganda. “These efforts are aimed at diverting international attention from India’s irresponsible and rogue behavior, particularly its ongoing human rights violations in IIOJ&K.”

Reaffirming its status as a bulwark against terrorism through unparalleled sacrifices and operational success, Pakistan called upon the international community to adopt objective, non-discriminatory approaches to tackle the global menace of terrorism. “We urge collective action and emphasize the need for listing terrorist entities like the Majeed Brigade as an alias of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA),” the statement concluded.
