Pakistan Confers Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) on US CENTCOM Commander
Islamabad : The Government of Pakistan has conferred the prestigious Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) upon General Michael E. Kurilla, Commander of United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), in recognition of his exemplary services and significant role in strengthening military cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the award during an investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, acknowledging General Kurilla’s outstanding contributions to regional security and his efforts in deepening strategic defence ties between the two nations.
General Kurilla’s leadership has been instrumental in promoting mutual understanding, enhancing defence collaboration, and reinforcing counterterrorism cooperation between the Pakistan Armed Forces and USCENTCOM. His consistent engagement has reflected a strong appreciation for Pakistan’s pivotal role in maintaining regional peace and stability.
During his visit to Pakistan, General Kurilla met with senior civil and military leadership, including President Zardari and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Discussions focused on key areas such as regional security dynamics, military-to-military engagement, and joint initiatives to combat terrorism and emerging transnational threats.
Upon arrival at the Presidency, General Kurilla was presented with a Tri-Services Guard of Honour.
The conferment of the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) highlights the growing depth of the strategic partnership between Pakistan and the United States and reaffirms their shared commitment to long-term peace, security, and defence collaboration in the region.
