COAS Asim Munir Attends CENTCOM Change of Command, Engages Pakistani Diaspora in US
Islamabad : Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir NI (M) is on an official visit to the United States, where he has held high-level meetings with senior political and military leaders and engaged with the Pakistani diaspora, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
During his stay in Tampa, the COAS attended the Retirement Ceremony of outgoing United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Michael E. Kurilla, as well as the Change of Command Ceremony where Admiral Brad Cooper assumed leadership of CENTCOM.
The COAS praised General Kurilla’s exemplary leadership and valuable contributions to strengthening Pakistan–US military cooperation. He also extended best wishes to Admiral Cooper, expressing confidence in continued collaboration to address mutual security challenges.
In a separate meeting with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, the COAS discussed matters of mutual professional interest and invited him to visit Pakistan. On the sidelines of the visit, the COAS also interacted with Chiefs of Defence from friendly nations.
Addressing members of the Pakistani diaspora in the US, Field Marshal Asim Munir urged them to remain optimistic about Pakistan’s future and to actively contribute to attracting foreign investment. The diaspora members reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic growth and development.
This visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence and diplomatic ties with the United States and fostering cooperation in addressing regional and global security challenges.
