U.S. to Restore Seven Historic Sites at Lahore Fort Through AFCP
Lahore: The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving Pakistan’s cultural heritage by supporting the restoration of seven historic sites within the iconic Lahore Fort under the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP).
During a recent visit, U.S. Consul General Stetson Sanders reviewed the ongoing restoration work and expressed satisfaction over the progress. He highlighted that the initiative not only safeguards Pakistan’s centuries-old cultural landmarks but also strengthens people-to-people ties between the United States and Pakistan.
“By investing in cultural preservation, we are not just restoring historic landmarks – we are also empowering local communities and promoting mutual understanding,” CG Sanders noted.
The AFCP program has funded several cultural preservation projects across Pakistan, with the Lahore Fort initiative standing out as a significant effort to protect and showcase the country’s rich history for future generations.
