PM Shehbaz Sharif Praises China’s Disaster Management Technology During Tianjin Visit

Tianjin: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday hailed China’s modern technology and advanced techniques in tackling natural calamities, stressing that such expertise could play a vital role in Pakistan’s disaster preparedness. Visiting the National Facility for Earthquake Engineering Simulation at Tianjin University, he said Pakistan aims to benefit from Chinese experience to build stronger preventive strategies against future natural disasters.

The Prime Minister emphasized that projects such as the International Medical Centre and the China-Pakistan Joint Lab in Pakistan must be made more active, while bilateral partnerships in disaster management should be further expanded.

Shehbaz Sharif noted that Pakistan is already grappling with severe flood challenges and assured that the government has dispatched convoys of relief supplies to Narowal, Sialkot, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Chiniot and Jhang, where aid will be handed over to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority. He directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to remain in close coordination with the Punjab government to ensure timely relief operations.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment, the Prime Minister said relief efforts for flood-hit families will continue without interruption. During the visit, he was also briefed on disaster management and rescue technologies, including medical rescue vehicles, precautionary systems, and ongoing bilateral projects such as the China-Pakistan Joint Lab for Disaster and Emergency Medicine, the International Medical Cooperation Centre, and the China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital.
