Over 200 Militants Killed as Pakistan Retaliates Against Border Attack: ISPR
Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Armed Forces successfully repelled an unprovoked attack by Afghan Taliban forces and India‑backed militant group Fitna al‑Khawarij along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The attack, aimed at creating instability in border areas and promoting terrorism, was met with timely and decisive action by the Pakistani military. The operations targeted multiple Taliban posts, camps, and training centers across the border. ISPR reported that 21 enemy positions were temporarily occupied, and several terrorist camps were destroyed.
More than 200 Taliban and militant fighters were killed, and several others wounded, while extensive damage was inflicted on insurgent infrastructure in the border belt. During the clashes, 23 Pakistani soldiers were martyred and 29 others injured. Special measures were taken to protect civilians and prevent collateral damage during the operations.
The ISPR statement warned the Taliban authorities to eliminate terrorist organisations operating from Afghan soil, stressing that Pakistan would continue operations to safeguard its citizens if no verifiable action was taken. It also condemned what it described as the collusion between the Taliban government and India to destabilise the region, calling the attack, timed with the Afghan foreign minister’s visit to India, a threat to regional peace.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to national sovereignty and regional stability, noting that while it seeks peace in the neighbourhood, it will not tolerate terrorism or threats to its territorial integrity.
