NDMA Hosts High-Level Parliamentary Delegations from Türkiye and Azerbaijan

Islamabad, October 13, 2025: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) hosted high-level parliamentary delegations from Türkiye and Azerbaijan on Monday at its National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC) in Islamabad.

The Turkish delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, while the Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, accompanied both delegations during their visit.

Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman NDMA, welcomed the distinguished guests and briefed them on Pakistan’s proactive disaster management framework. He emphasized NDMA’s central coordination role and highlighted the integration of advanced technologies in early warning systems, preparedness planning, and emergency response operations.

The NDMA team showcased key initiatives aimed at enhancing national and regional resilience, including the National Common Operating Picture (NCOP) and the Global Common Operating Picture (GCOP). These platforms leverage satellite data and international hazard models to facilitate real-time risk profiling and informed decision-making.

The visiting delegations were also briefed on NDMA’s regional collaboration efforts through knowledge exchange, workshops, Comprehensive International Simulation Exercises (CISE), and capacity-building programs.

During the discussions, NDMA highlighted its achievements in the Monsoon 2025 operations, including the Disaster Early Warning (DEW) system, widespread public risk awareness campaigns, the timely evacuation of over three million at-risk individuals, and coordinated relief and recovery efforts in affected areas.

The Turkish and Azerbaijani dignitaries commended NDMA’s strategic use of technology, commitment to resilience-building, and role in strengthening national preparedness. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing regional cooperation in disaster risk reduction, capacity development, and mutual support during natural calamities.

This visit underscored the growing trilateral collaboration between Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan in addressing shared challenges of climate change and disaster management, reflecting a spirit of solidarity and mutual trust among friendly nations working to safeguard communities and build a safer future.
