Shehbaz Sharif, Qatar Amir Commit to Stronger Cooperation and Regional Stability

Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt: Pakistan and Qatar on Monday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.

The pledge came during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the Gaza Peace Summit.

During the warm and friendly interaction, both leaders highlighted the historic and robust relationship between the two countries. Prime Minister Sharif appreciated Qatar’s proactive role in regional diplomacy, particularly its efforts that contributed to the historic Gaza peace agreement signed at the summit.

He commended Qatar’s continuous initiatives toward a just and lasting resolution of the Gaza crisis and reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital. The Prime Minister also emphasized Pakistan’s ongoing humanitarian support for the Palestinian people.

In response, Amir Sheikh Tamim lauded Pakistan’s principled stance on Palestine and expressed hope that international focus would ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.

Both leaders agreed to maintain close cooperation on regional and global issues of shared concern.
