Islamabad: Ambassador of Russia to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev, called on Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Saturday and discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to bilateral relations, tourism promotion, media cooperation, and cultural exchanges between Pakistan and Russia.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the progress on a proposed cooperation agreement between Pakistan Television (PTV World) and Russia’s RT (Russian Television), aimed at fostering content sharing and collaborative broadcasting. They also discussed the ongoing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and Sputnik News Agency to enhance news exchange and strengthen media ties.
The minister and the envoy agreed to enhance collaboration in key sectors including media, culture, and tourism, reaffirming their commitment to deepening engagement across multiple domains. They also considered launching exchange programmes involving digital influencers and youth delegations to promote people-to-people contacts and cultural understanding.
Minister Tarar highlighted that Pakistan and Russia enjoy diplomatic relations based on mutual trust and respect, and expressed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening ties in diverse fields.
Ambassador Khorev, while appreciating the natural beauty of Pakistan’s northern areas, described them as highly attractive destinations for international travellers. He noted that Russian tourists have shown a keen interest in exploring Pakistan’s scenic landscapes and vibrant culture.
The Russian envoy expressed optimism that both countries would continue to build on the existing momentum and transform their relationship into a practical partnership through new avenues of cooperation.
