Russia Condemns English Newspaper for Spreading Western Propaganda
Islamabad: The Russian Embassy in Pakistan has strongly criticized the English-language daily Frontier Post for what it described as a “series of anti-Russian articles” reflecting Western propaganda and bias against Moscow.
In an official statement, the Embassy noted that the newspaper’s global news service is headquartered in Washington, suggesting that its editorial policy is influenced by “an Americanized team” that gives preference to “ardent Russophobes and critics of Russian foreign policy and President Vladimir Putin.”
The statement said it has become “impossible to find a single article in the international section of the newspaper that portrays Russia or its leadership in a positive or even neutral light.” While acknowledging the importance of freedom of speech, the Embassy remarked that the consistent publication of anti-Russian content “lacking any alternative viewpoint” raises questions about whether the editorial policy is driven by “anti-Russian forces rather than by journalistic independence.”
The Embassy also expressed surprise that Frontier Post ignored the Moscow Format of Consultations on Afghanistan held on October 7, 2025—an event, it said, that was widely covered in the local media. The omission, according to the statement, “further highlights the Russophobic nature of the Westernized editorial office” and shows “disregard for Pakistan’s efforts to promote its approach to regional issues.”
Rejecting Western claims about Russia’s “weak economy” and “vulnerability to sanctions,” the Embassy said that despite “unprecedented external pressure,” Russia’s economy continues to show “steady progress.” It noted that the country’s GDP grew by 4.1% in 2024, with manufacturing expanding by up to 8.5%. The unemployment rate stands at 2.5%, while inflation is expected to remain around 6.5–7% in 2025.
Citing recent defense achievements, the Embassy highlighted the successful testing of the Burevestnik unlimited-range cruise missile and the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle as evidence that “Western military superiority” is exaggerated.
Concluding the statement, the Russian Embassy urged the Pakistani public to “seek information from various sources and not rely on publications that serve the dubious interests of foreign sponsors.”
