President Shavkat Mirziyoyev passionately addressed the nation on Uzbekistan’s 33rd Independence Day, expressing deep respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made by their ancestors. In his speech, he emphasized the significance of this day, declaring, “No matter how much we are proud of this, it is worth being proud of,” as he reflected on the restoration of Uzbekistan’s national statehood and the country’s entry into a new historical era.
During the address, President Mirziyoyev highlighted the significant progress made over the past few years, attributing these achievements to the strength of independence. He stated, “The great power of independence is clearly manifested in our every work and every achievement,” as Uzbekistan continues to engage more with the global community, building stronger international relations and gaining recognition from organizations like the United Nations and the World Bank. Economic progress was a key theme in President Mirziyoyev’s speech. He proudly announced that Uzbekistan’s GDP is projected to surpass $100 billion in 2023. Additionally, he shared plans to increase pensions, allowances, and salaries for budget employees, doctors, and teachers, emphasizing, “Our economic achievements allow us to increase the amount of pensions and allowances from September this year, and from October the salaries of budget employees, doctors, and teachers.”
The President also celebrated the success of Uzbek athletes at the recent Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, where they won numerous medals. He expressed immense pride in their achievements, saying, “Glory be to our winners and victorious athletes who literally achieved record results and unparalleled achievements in the history of Uzbekistan!” President Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that these accomplishments would inspire future generations and further bolster national pride.
