Islamabad :Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Naveed Ashraf, concluded his official visit to Oman with high-level engagements, aimed at bolstering defence cooperation and reinforcing the historic ties between the two nations. During his visit, the Naval Chief held pivotal discussions with Oman’s top military and naval leadership, including the Minister of Royal Office, General Sultan Mohammad Al Nu’amani, the Commander of Royal Navy of Oman, Rear Admiral Saif Nasser Al Rahbi, and the Commander of National Defence College, Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi.
According to a press release from the Directorate General Public Relations (Pak Navy), these meetings focused on enhancing bilateral defence collaboration, with Admiral Ashraf underscoring Pakistan Navy’s commitment to regional maritime security. He reiterated Pakistan Navy’s proactive role in promoting collaborative maritime initiatives in coordination with regional countries.
During his visit, Admiral Naveed Ashraf toured several key facilities in Oman, including the RNO Said bin Sultan Naval Base, Maritime Security Centre, National Defence College, Military Technical College, and Sultan Qaboos Naval Academy. At these institutions, he received detailed briefings, reflecting Oman’s advanced naval infrastructure and capabilities.
The engagements highlighted the mutual interest of both nations in fostering stronger naval ties and sharing expertise to enhance regional stability and maritime security. The Naval Chief’s visit served as a significant platform for exploring avenues of cooperation in training, joint exercises, and technological advancements.
The visit, as noted in the press release, marks a new chapter in the historically close relations between Pakistan and Oman. It is expected to further enhance defence ties, particularly in naval cooperation, aligning the strategic interests of both nations for a secure and prosperous region.
