KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir visited the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2024) at the Karachi Expo Centre on Wednesday. The event showcased cutting-edge defense technology from around the world, with a strong emphasis on Pakistan’s growing capabilities in the defense sector.
During the visit, General Munir praised the participation of defense manufacturers from friendly nations and expressed appreciation for the impressive display of arms and equipment by both local and international exhibitors. He noted the importance of such collaborations in strengthening Pakistan’s defense industry and fostering international partnerships.
A key moment of the exhibition was the unveiling of Shahpar-III, Pakistan’s latest combat Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), developed by Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS). The UAV, with its advanced capabilities, including an operational ceiling of 35,000 feet and an endurance of over 24 hours, reflects Pakistan’s technological progress in defense manufacturing.
The Army Chief also held discussions with foreign military officials and defense delegates, underscoring the event’s role in fostering global defense cooperation. This year’s IDEAS has attracted participation from 557 exhibitors, including 333 international companies from 36 countries, with 17 nations debuting at the event.
With over 300 foreign delegates from 53 countries in attendance, the exhibition highlights Pakistan’s growing stature in the global defense market. Delegates expressed confidence in the country’s defense industry, further solidifying IDEAS-2024 as a significant platform for innovation and collaboration.
