COMSTECH and UOL launch fellowship for Bangladeshi scholars
Islamabad: COMSTECH, the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in collaboration with the University of Lahore (UOL), has launched a fellowship program aimed at enhancing academic and research opportunities for Bangladeshi scholars and students.
The program offers avenues for Bangladeshi nationals to pursue advanced education and engage in groundbreaking research across a range of disciplines, including allied health sciences, engineering and technology, pharmacy, management sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. Additionally, it provides specialized training for technical personnel working in science and technology and engineering laboratories.
Highlighting the program’s significance, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, said, “This fellowship program reflects our commitment to bridging educational and research gaps within the Muslim world. By empowering Bangladeshi scholars, we aim to foster a generation of innovators and leaders who can address pressing global challenges.”
This initiative also showcases UOL’s global standing, as evidenced by its inclusion in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025, where it is ranked among the top 500 universities worldwide. Chairman Board of Governors, Awais Raoof, emphasized the University’s dedication to fostering academic excellence and professional growth across the OIC member states.
The fellowship is open to Bangladeshi nationals aged 22 to 45, regardless of their country of residence, who demonstrate exceptional academic achievements and a commitment to community development. Successful candidates will benefit from a tuition fee waiver, round-trip airfare, an honorarium, and free accommodation.
Applications are being accepted through the official websites of COMSTECH and the University of Lahore until March 1, 2025.
