ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Pakistan, Ladislav Steinhubel, called on President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Saturday. President Gilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in trade, renewable energy, business, health, parliamentary cooperation, education, and people-to-people exchanges. He emphasized the need for Czech businesses to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan and called for enhanced economic and cultural engagement between the two countries.
The president highlighted Pakistan’s long-standing ties with the Czech Republic and urged for greater collaboration in key sectors. He also stressed the importance of easing visa restrictions for Pakistani students seeking education in Czech universities. Expressing gratitude for the Czech Republic’s support for Pakistan’s bid for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council (2025-26), President Gilani noted the importance of deepening diplomatic and economic partnerships.
Ambassador Steinhubel conveyed his country’s interest in expanding cooperation in trade, business, health, and energy. He also discussed the potential for importing Pakistani mangoes and informed President Gilani that the Czech Prime Minister would visit Islamabad in May 2025. President Gilani welcomed the upcoming visit, expressing confidence that it would further enhance bilateral ties. The ambassador also extended condolences over the recent terrorist attack on Jaffar Express.
