Dar Terms PM Shehbaz’s US Visit Highly Successful

Islamabad : Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday described Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to the United States as “highly successful,” saying it significantly elevated Pakistan’s diplomatic standing and amplified its voice for oppressed nations.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar said the Prime Minister, in his address to the United Nations General Assembly, forcefully advocated for the rights of the Palestinian and Kashmiri people. He noted that the speech received wide appreciation from the Muslim world, including Turkiye, Egypt, and the Palestinian Authority.

The Deputy Prime Minister said Pakistan’s delegation to the United States pursued two primary objectives — active participation in the UN General Assembly session and coordination with Arab and Islamic countries to press for a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

Highlighting Pakistan’s proactive role, Ishaq Dar said a group of eight Arab and Islamic countries — comprising Pakistan, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt — raised a strong voice against Israel’s ongoing atrocities in Gaza during a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

He added that following extensive deliberations, the group issued a joint statement reaffirming their collective commitment to the Palestinian cause, a move warmly welcomed by the Palestinian Authority.
