Islamabad : Amb. Khusrav Noziri, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad.
The outgoing Secretary General informed the Prime Minister about ECO’s initiatives, activities, and his reform agenda aimed at revitalizing the organization during his tenure. Prime Minister Sharif appreciated Noziri’s efforts and contributions to promoting ECO as a regional cooperation platform and extended his best wishes for Noziri’s future endeavors. He also noted with pleasure that Noziri was a graduate of Pakistan’s Foreign Service Academy and conveyed warm wishes to President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting ECO in enhancing intra-regional trade among member countries and advancing the ECO reforms agenda. He emphasized the importance of “ECO Vision 2025,” a document signed during the 2017 ECO Summit in Islamabad under then Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
The Prime Minister expressed pride that the incoming Secretary General of ECO would be Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, a former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan.
Amb. Noziri conveyed his gratitude for Pakistan’s consistent support during his tenure as Secretary General of ECO.
