Erdogan’s Official Visit Begins with Warm Reception in Pakistan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday warmly welcomed the President of Turkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad as he arrived in Pakistan on a two-day official visit.

A 21-gun salute marked the arrival of the Turkish president, whose special aircraft was escorted by Pakistan Air Force jets as it entered Pakistani airspace. Upon landing, President Erdogan was received with full honors, accompanied by a high-level delegation. Two children, dressed in traditional attire, presented bouquets to the Turkish president and the First Lady, while a military band performed patriotic tunes as children waved the flags of Pakistan and Turkiye.

The Turkish president landed at Nur Khan Airbase, he was received by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto, Deputy PM/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and senior government officials.

The airbase and the route of President Erdogan’s motorcade were adorned with Pakistani and Turkish flags, along with welcoming banners, symbolizing the strong diplomatic and fraternal ties between the two nations.

Upon reaching the Prime Minister’s House, President Erdogan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a guard of honor by a smartly turned-out contingent of the armed forces. Both leaders later participated in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony, reinforcing their commitment to environmental sustainability and strengthening bilateral relations.

The Turkish president’s visit aims to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye in trade, defense, and investment, further cementing the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations.
