EU, UK, Iran, and Qatar Condemn Islamabad Terrorist Attack, Express Solidarity with Pakistan

Islamabad: The European Union, United Kingdom, Iran, and Qatar have strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attack in Islamabad’s G-11 area on Monday, which claimed at least 12 lives and left 36 others injured. The international community expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and reiterated its support for Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.

In a statement, Raimundas Karoblis, Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan, said the EU was “deeply saddened and appalled by the tragic loss of lives” in the attack. “The EU unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms. Our thoughts are with the bereaved families, and we wish a swift recovery to all those injured,” the statement read.

Similarly, UK High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott said she was aware of the explosion in Islamabad that had reportedly left several people dead. “We are closely tracking, and British nationals should monitor travel advice. My thoughts are with the loved ones of those who have lost their lives,” she said.

Condemning the attack in the strongest terms, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam described it as “an inhumane and cowardly act” that targeted innocent civilians. “Terrorism is the ominous design of cowardly elements who seek to destabilize our region and obstruct its path toward sustainable development objectives,” he said, emphasizing that such acts were often “imported and fueled by malicious machinations.” The envoy urged for “collective, determined, and united efforts by all countries to uproot every form of terrorism and violent extremism.” He extended his condolences to the government and people of Pakistan and prayed for the victims’ families.

The State of Qatar also joined in condemning the attack. In a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar “strongly condemned and denounced” the incidents in both Islamabad and Wana, South Waziristan, reaffirming its “firm stance rejecting all forms of violence, terrorism, and criminal acts, regardless of their motives or justifications.” The ministry conveyed “sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Pakistan,” and wished a swift recovery to the injured.

The coordinated condemnations from the EU, UK, Iran, and Qatar underscore the international community’s solidarity with Pakistan as the country continues to confront the menace of terrorism that has claimed thousands of lives over the years.
