Istanbul: Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar visited the headquarters of Turkey’s national television channel, TRT World, where he held a meeting with Director General of International Broadcast, Umar Faruk Tanriverdi. During the meeting, discussions were held on enhancing media cooperation, producing joint documentaries, promoting tourism, and other areas of mutual interest.
Speaking on the occasion, the Federal Minister stated, “Pakistan highly values its fraternal relations with Turkey. These relations are rooted in shared historical, religious, and cultural values.”
He emphasized that agreements with the Turkish government for the co-production of dramas and documentaries are part of the strategic framework between the two nations. “Both countries are endowed with immense talent,” he added.
The Minister highlighted the remarkable achievements of Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem, who set a javelin throw record of 92.97 meters at the Summer Olympics. He called Arshad Nadeem’s journey “inspirational” and suggested the production of documentaries on such young talents.
The Shandur Polo Festival also came under discussion during the meeting. The Federal Minister described it as a unique event that promotes not only tourism and culture but also sports. “The Shandur Polo Festival, held at the world’s highest polo ground, can be showcased to global audiences through a documentary in collaboration with PTV World,” he suggested.
Proposing joint broadcasts, the Minister stated that TRT World’s programming could be aired on Pakistan Television (PTV) to further strengthen ties. “Pakistan and Turkey share common cultural and religious values, which is why Turkish dramas and documentaries are widely appreciated in Pakistan,” he said.
The Minister also emphasized the need to highlight the plight of Kashmiris under occupation. He called for the production of a digital documentary to expose the atrocities being committed in Kashmir.
