Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad in Israeli Custody, Safe and Healthy: Foreign Office

Islamabad: The Foreign Office on Sunday said that Pakistan was actively coordinating with its international partners to ensure the safety and early repatriation of its citizens who were illegally detained by Israeli occupying forces.

Responding to media queries regarding Pakistani nationals aboard the Sumud Flotilla, the spokesperson confirmed that former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan was in Israeli custody but was safe and in good health.

“Through the diplomatic channels of a friendly European country, we have verified that Senator Mushtaq is under detention and will be presented before a court as per local legal procedures. Following the issuance of deportation orders, his repatriation will be facilitated on a fast-track basis,” the spokesperson said.

The Foreign Office noted that earlier, several individuals who disembarked from the flotilla had already been safely repatriated, owing to the ministry’s coordination efforts.

Expressing gratitude, the spokesperson acknowledged the assistance of “brotherly countries” that supported Pakistan in facilitating the safe return of its nationals.

“The Government of Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting all citizens abroad and expects the repatriation process to be completed in the coming days,” the statement added.
