FPCCI Delegation Meets Bangladeshi Trade Advisor to Boost Bilateral Trade
Dhaka: A high-level business delegation led by the President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Atif Ikram Sheikh, met with Bangladesh’s Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin in Dhaka to discuss measures for enhancing bilateral trade and investment opportunities.
The meeting focused on key issues, including simplifying visa procedures, initiating direct flight operations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, and exploring potential areas of economic cooperation. Discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening trade ties to capitalize on the economic potential of both nations.
Sheikh Bashiruddin emphasized the need to build sustainable trade relations, noting that despite the large populations of both countries, the existing trade volume remains minimal. “There are significant opportunities to expand trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which should be fully utilized,” he said. He urged Pakistani traders to increase engagement with their Bangladeshi counterparts to explore mutual benefits.
FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh expressed Pakistani traders’ keen interest in expanding trade with Bangladesh but pointed out the challenges posed by visa complexities and the absence of direct flight operations. “These barriers need to be addressed to achieve the desired outcomes,” he said.
The Pakistani delegation also expressed interest in investing in key sectors such as agriculture, marketing, education, and tourism, underscoring the need for collaborative efforts to unlock the economic potential of both nations.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing a commitment to strengthening economic ties and fostering mutually beneficial trade relations.
