Islamabad: The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Islamabad hosted a grand diplomatic reception celebrating the 79th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day. The event, held under the theme “New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia,” showcased Indonesia’s significant development strides under President Joko Widodo’s leadership.
Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, was the Chief Guest, while State Minister for Finance, Ali Pervaiz Malik, also graced the occasion. Around 400 distinguished guests, including diplomats, government officials, business leaders, and media professionals, attended the celebration, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between Indonesia and Pakistan.

He emphasized the importance of improving connectivity and infrastructure to enhance both economic growth and national unity. The embassy was adorned with cultural decorations, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.
CdA Rahmat also urged Pakistani businesses to explore opportunities at the upcoming Trade Expo Indonesia, scheduled for October 9-12, 2024. He invited them to the Indonesia and South and Central Asia Business Forum (INASCA) on October 7, 2024, stressing the potential for enhancing trade and investment between the two countries.
Minister Pirzada reiterated the brotherly relations between Indonesia and Pakistan, noting their shared stance on regional and global issues as members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He extended congratulations on behalf of the Pakistani Prime Minister, expressing optimism for continued growth in economic cooperation.
The event included a moment of silence for the victims of violence in Gaza and Palestine, followed by the national anthems of both countries, a cake-cutting ceremony, and a documentary screening on Indonesia’s new capital city. These moments highlighted the solidarity between the two nations.
Cultural performances, including the “Saman Dance” from Aceh and a traditional fashion show, captivated the audience. The evening ended with a lavish dinner featuring Indonesian delicacies, leaving guests with a deep appreciation for Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage.
