Indonesian Defence Minister Calls on Army Chief at GHQ

Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Tuesday hosted Indonesian Defence Minister Lieutenant General (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin at the General Headquarters (GHQ) to discuss avenues for strengthening defence and military cooperation between the two countries.

According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visiting minister is leading a high-level delegation comprising senior officials from Indonesia’s military and intelligence institutions.

During the meeting, both sides held wide-ranging talks on regional security dynamics, bilateral defence collaboration, and strategies to deepen military-to-military engagement. The discussion reflected the enduring ties between Pakistan and Indonesia, with a shared commitment to promoting peace, stability, and security in the region.

COAS Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to expand defence partnerships with friendly countries and underscored the importance of cooperative efforts to address emerging regional and global challenges. He emphasized that Pakistan highly values its longstanding defence relations with Indonesia and looks forward to further enhancing them in the future.

Lieutenant General Sjamsoeddin appreciated the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Pakistan Army, particularly its success in combating terrorism and ensuring internal security.

The meeting marked a significant step forward in Pakistan-Indonesia defence relations, with both sides agreeing to explore new avenues for training exchanges, joint exercises, and enhanced military collaboration.
