Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, US Envoy Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker on Thursday discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and expand cooperation in multiple sectors during a meeting held in Islamabad.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and senior officials from both sides also attended the meeting.
According to an official statement, the two sides exchanged views on Pakistan–US relations, security cooperation, and investment opportunities, particularly in the mineral sector. The talks underscored the shared commitment of both countries to promoting regional stability and fostering mutual economic growth.
Interior Minister Naqvi lauded US President Donald Trump’s efforts toward the Gaza peace agreement, terming them “sincere and historic.” He said President Trump’s contribution to promoting peace in the Middle East would have a lasting impact on regional stability.
The minister welcomed the growing interest of American investors in Pakistan, especially in the minerals and energy sectors. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating foreign investors and creating a business-friendly environment. “We welcome US companies to explore Pakistan’s vast potential in the mineral sector and other industries,” Naqvi added.
Highlighting Pakistan’s sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism, Naqvi said the country had paid a heavy price to ensure international peace and security. He commended the security forces, police, and citizens for their “unparalleled sacrifices” in countering extremism.
Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker expressed condolences over the recent loss of lives in terrorist attacks and acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. She reiterated Washington’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and promoting regional peace.
Senior officials, including Secretary Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Inspector General of Police, and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, were also present.
The meeting marked another step in the ongoing dialogue between Islamabad and Washington, reflecting the shared resolve to deepen cooperation in security, economic, and diplomatic spheres for mutual benefit and regional stability.
