Islamabad: The Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam, paid a visit to the residence of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday. Accompanied by a delegation, the envoy held a detailed meeting with the JUI leader to discuss bilateral relations and pressing regional issues.
During the meeting, Dr. Amiri Moghaddam conveyed his well-wishes for Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s health and commended JUI’s efforts in supporting Palestine. The Iranian envoy praised the party for organizing significant Gaza solidarity demonstrations across Pakistan, describing them as a testament to unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
Speaking on the occasion, the Iranian Ambassador emphasized the importance of consultations with influential scholars and seasoned political leaders like Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan and collaborating on regional peace efforts.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman highlighted the need for the Muslim world to stand united in support of the oppressed Palestinians. “The Muslim Ummah must raise a strong voice against the aggression in Gaza,” he stated.
He further called upon key regional players, including Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia, to take concrete measures to defend Gaza and counter Israeli aggression. Reflecting on domestic challenges, Maulana Fazlur Rehman noted, “We, along with the people of Pakistan, have successfully buried the conspiracy to recognize Israel in our country.”
The meeting was also attended by JUI Central Spokesperson Aslam Ghauri, former Member of the National Assembly Maulana Muhammad Qasim, and Mufti Abrar Ahmed.
