Islamabad Hosts Second Round of Pakistan-Turkiye Counter-Terrorism Talks

Islamabad : The second round of Pakistan-Turkiye Counter-Terrorism Consultations was held in Islamabad, where officials from both countries reviewed the regional and global security landscape. The discussions focused on emerging terrorist threats, counter-terrorism strategies, and areas of mutual cooperation to combat terrorism effectively.

The Pakistani delegation was led by Director General for Counter Terrorism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdul Hameed, while the Turkish side was headed by Director General for Intelligence and Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye, Ambassador Kenan Yilmaz. Both sides shared best practices and assessed ongoing counter-terrorism cooperation between the two nations.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that addressing the root causes of terrorism, including unresolved conflicts, was crucial for long-term stability. The delegations agreed to strengthen collaboration in countering terrorism financing, preventing the misuse of the internet for terrorist activities, and tackling radicalization.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and intelligence sharing to address evolving security threats. The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold the next round of consultations in Ankara at a mutually convenient date.
