Islamabad : The Arms Control and Disarmament Centre (ACDC) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) hosted an in-house meeting with a Chinese delegation led by Mr. SUN Xiaobo, Director General of the Department of Arms Control, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beijing. The delegation included Mr. Xie Xinxing, Ms. XIAO Yue, Jiang Yingbo, Mr. Xu Hangtian, and Ms. Wanf YiQiu. The session was attended by notable Pakistani figures such as Ambassador Zamir Akram, Ambassador Masood Khalid, and Major General (R) Ausaf Ali, among others.
During the meeting, the participants discussed pressing issues, including global arms control, emerging technologies, AI risks, and regional security challenges. Topics like the growing Indo-US partnership, the Ukraine conflict, and the militarization of outer space were also highlighted. Both sides reaffirmed the strength of the China-Pakistan strategic partnership and their shared positions on these critical matters.
To conclude the event, Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, Chairman of ISSI’s Board of Governors, presented the institute’s shield to the Chinese delegation, symbolizing the enduring cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries.
