Malaysia’s 68th National Day Celebrated with Flag Hoisting Ceremony in Islamabad

Islamabad: A patriotic flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the High Commission of Malaysia in Islamabad on Sunday to mark Malaysia’s 68th National Day (Hari Kebangsaan). The event began with the raising of the Jalur Gemilang and the singing of the national anthem “Negaraku”, creating an atmosphere of pride and unity.

The ceremony brought together home-based staff, members of PERWAKILAN, and locally recruited staff to commemorate Malaysia’s independence, first declared on 31 August 1957.

High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, His Excellency Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, delivered opening remarks, recalling the sacrifices of Malaysia’s forefathers and reflecting on the nation’s remarkable journey since independence.

In his speech, the High Commissioner highlighted the importance of this year’s National Day theme, “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni”, which emphasizes inclusivity, democratic values, and Malaysia’s commitment to building a sustainable and progressive future.

The gathering also provided an opportunity for Malaysians abroad to connect, celebrate their heritage, and reaffirm solidarity. The event underscored not only national pride but also the strengthening of Malaysia-Pakistan bilateral ties.
