Islamabad : Pakistan and Azerbaijan have committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, and connectivity. During a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, both leaders emphasized the importance of leveraging their friendly relationship to explore untapped potential. This includes promoting parliamentary and cultural exchanges and boosting renewable energy cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar highlighted measures to increase bilateral investment, particularly in the energy sector. He noted the formation of a joint working group on energy to foster collaboration in this critical area. Dar also expressed Pakistan’s support for Azerbaijan’s upcoming hosting of the COP 29 meeting and reiterated solidarity on key international issues, including Palestine and Kashmir.
Foreign Minister Bayramov pointed out the significant opportunities for economic and trade cooperation that remain unexploited. He emphasized the importance of launching joint economic projects in various sectors such as energy, tourism, and information technology. Bayramov also encouraged Pakistan’s business community to take advantage of the favorable business environment and connectivity projects in Azerbaijan.
Both leaders expressed a shared commitment to addressing global challenges such as climate change. Bayramov mentioned Azerbaijan’s efforts to secure necessary resources for developing countries to aid in climate adaptation and capacity-building projects. Dar highlighted the devastating impact of floods in Pakistan and the ongoing efforts for reconstruction and rehabilitation.
The meeting concluded with a mutual resolve to strengthen bilateral strategic relations and expand cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. This includes a focus on education, climate action, regional connectivity, and more, setting a foundation for a robust and multifaceted partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
