Pakistan, Azerbaijan Discuss Boosting Energy and Economic Ties

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, held a productive meeting with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, on Thursday to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy sector. The meeting focused on exploring new opportunities in oil and gas exploration, energy trade, and strategic investments between the two brotherly nations.

The minister conveyed deep appreciation for Azerbaijan’s unwavering support to Pakistan during its recent tensions with India. He underlined the importance of brotherly ties rooted in shared values and mutual respect. He also communicated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s heartfelt gratitude to the Azerbaijani leadership for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Pakistan in times of need.

Ambassador Farhadov reiterated Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to boosting economic and energy relations with Pakistan. He emphasized the shared vision of expanding energy connectivity and fostering regional development through sustainable and mutually beneficial collaborations. He noted that Azerbaijan values its friendship with Pakistan and looks forward to transforming this bond into deeper economic engagement.

Minister Malik also announced his forthcoming participation in Baku Energy Week, where he will represent Pakistan on the global stage. Discussions are underway between SOCAR Upstream, Azerbaijan’s state-owned energy company, and Pakistani stakeholders for collaboration in oil and gas exploration. Both sides expressed optimism about finalizing joint ventures and strategic projects that would enhance energy security and open new frontiers of cooperation.
