Islamabad : Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Ambassador Kairat Sarybay, Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), at the PM House on Thursday. During their discussion, the Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to playing an active role in maintaining international peace and security as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2025-26.
The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s strong desire for enhanced regional connectivity and lauded CICA’s efforts toward this goal. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for CICA’s core mission of fostering regional cooperation, as well as promoting peace, security, and stability across Asia through confidence-building measures.
Addressing the broader context of regional conflicts, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of tackling root causes, implementing conflict prevention strategies, and developing sustainable solutions for long-term peace and prosperity in the region.
Ambassador Sarybay provided an overview of CICA’s ongoing activities and future vision. He acknowledged Pakistan’s active and constructive role within the organization and expressed optimism for continued close collaboration.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both Pakistan and CICA to advancing regional peace, security, and cooperation, setting the stage for future joint efforts in these critical areas.
