Pakistan Condemns Indian PM’s Provocative Remarks, Urges International Community to Take Notice

Islamabad: Pakistan strongly criticized recent remarks made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a political rally in Gujarat, calling the statements “reckless” and “hate-driven,” and warning that such rhetoric could escalate tensions in an already volatile region.

In a sharply worded statement, the Foreign Office said the remarks delivered by the Indian premier “carried the theatrical flourish of a campaign rally rather than the sobriety expected of the leader of a nuclear-armed state.” Pakistan expressed deep concern over what it described as the “invocation of violence” and the “continued erosion of maturity and decorum in Indian statecraft.”

“These statements blatantly violate the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, which obliges member states to resolve disputes peacefully and to refrain from the threat or use of force against the sovereignty or political independence of other states,” the statement said.

Islamabad viewed the Indian leader’s comments as a deliberate attempt to distract from “ongoing human rights abuses and demographic engineering” in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Reaffirming its commitment to international peacekeeping and counter-terrorism, Pakistan pointed to its strong record in UN peacekeeping missions and cooperation in global counter-terrorism efforts. “If extremism is indeed a concern for the Indian government, it would do well to turn inward—toward the alarming rise of majoritarianism, religious intolerance, and the systematic disenfranchisement of minorities under the increasingly brutal Hindutva ideology,” the Foreign Office said.

While reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peace based on mutual respect and sovereign equality, the statement made it clear that any threat to its security or territorial integrity would be met with “firm and proportionate measures,” in line with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Islamabad also urged the international community to take serious note of India’s “escalating rhetoric,” warning that it poses a significant threat to regional stability and undermines the prospects for lasting peace in South Asia.
