Pakistan Consulate in Jeddah Marks 60th Defence Day with Patriotic Zeal
Jeddah: The Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah marked the 60th Defence Day of Pakistan with a solemn ceremony paying glowing tributes to the armed forces and martyrs of the 1965 war. The event drew a large number of community members, showcasing deep national pride and solidarity. At a time when Pakistan faces devastating floods, the commemoration also became a call for unity and resilience.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by the national anthems of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Consul General of Pakistan in Jeddah, Khalid Majid, in his address, lauded the sacrifices of the defence forces, especially the martyrs and their families, and praised their unwavering role in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. He reminded the gathering that Defence Day this year coincides with one of the toughest periods in Pakistan’s history due to the floods, stressing the need for collective resolve and support.
Special guest, Chairman Kashmir Committee Jeddah, Masood Puri, underscored the historic victories of Pakistan’s armed forces and the nation’s resilience in the face of challenges. He urged overseas Pakistanis to stand by their homeland in times of crisis and extend support to flood victims.
Adding to the patriotic spirit, young students from Pakistan International Schools delivered emotional speeches honoring the courage of the armed forces and pledging to uphold the tradition of sacrifice for national defence.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the martyrs of Pakistan, Kashmir, Palestine, and for the wellbeing of the Islamic Ummah.
