Pakistan Embassy Hosts Inaugural Fashion Show at Great Wall

Beijing: The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, in collaboration with the China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC), organized the first-ever Pakistan-China Fashion Show at the iconic Great Wall of China on Sunday, marking a unique celebration of cultural harmony and creative exchange.

Renowned Pakistani designers Maheen Khan, Moazzam Abbasi, Ayesha Tariq, Rizwaullah, and Zain Hashmi, presented their collections blending Pakistani and Chinese aesthetics. China-based Pakistani designer Aqeel Chaudhary also showcased his jewelry line, while celebrated Chinese designer Ms. Liang Suyun presented her latest creations. The event was curated by Mr. Adnan Ansari of Riwayat.

The show drew a distinguished audience, including senior Chinese officials, members of the diplomatic corps, media representatives, and business figures.

Addressing the gathering, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, said the majestic Badaling section of the Great Wall offered a fitting venue to celebrate the enduring spirit of the Silk Road — now revived as a “modern bridge of fabric, art, and friendship.” He noted that the event carried special significance as it coincided with the 60th anniversary of the first visit by a Pakistani dignitary to the Great Wall.

Ambassador Hashmi underscored that the fashion showcase reflected a fusion of creativity and commercial sensibility, highlighting the growing synergy between Pakistan’s fashion industry and the Chinese market. He expressed optimism that such initiatives would pave the way for deeper cultural and commercial collaboration between the two countries.

Chairman of CICCC, Mr. Long Yuxiang, described the show as a “grand cultural exchange event” and a vivid reflection of the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. He noted that both nations share a rich historical heritage and a shared pursuit of beauty through fashion and art. Mr. Long reaffirmed his organization’s commitment to exploring traditional aesthetics with Pakistani partners to create distinctive fashion works and infuse new vitality into Pakistan-China cultural ties.

Badaling, the most famous section of the Great Wall, holds historic importance as it hosted the first visit of a Pakistani dignitary six decades ago — a milestone now celebrated through the language of fashion and friendship.
