Pakistan Navy Chief Meets Senior US Military Officials to Enhance Defence Engagements

Islamabad: Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Naveed Ashraf undertook an official visit to the United States as part of ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral maritime cooperation and defence engagements between Pakistan and the US.

According to a press release issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Navy), Admiral Naveed Ashraf held meetings with senior US military leadership, including Vice Admiral Yvette Davids, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, and Vice Admiral Thomas G. Allan Jr., Acting Vice Commandant of the US Coast Guard.

Discussions during the meetings focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, professional training, and avenues for enhanced maritime cooperation.

The Naval Chief also visited the National Defense University (NDU), where he met its President, Vice Admiral Peter A. Garvin, and later called on Mr. Stanley L. Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, at the US State Department. The interactions covered a wide range of issues, including politico-military cooperation, maritime security, capacity building, and shared maritime interests.

During his visit, Admiral Ashraf also addressed a gathering of US scholars and think tank representatives, where he highlighted regional maritime security challenges and Pakistan Navy’s contributions to collaborative international maritime efforts.

The visit of the Naval Chief underscores the longstanding defence partnership between Pakistan and the United States, reaffirming the mutual commitment to promoting maritime stability and security in the region and beyond.
