lsamabad : The Pakistan Volleyball team arrived in Bahrain, ready to participate in the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup 2024, aiming to deliver stellar performances and improve upon recent results.
According to Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, following two remarkable performances in the Central Asian Volleyball League and the series against Australia, the Pakistan team is now poised for the significant event of the AVC Challenge Cup, commencing on June 2 (Sunday).
“We have retained the winning squad from the Central Asian Volleyball League after consulting
with Head Coach Ruben Wolochin from Argentina,” said Chaudhry Yaqoob. “The national squad
played excellent volleyball, and we expect them to achieve commendable results in the AVC
Challenge Cup.”
The team is prepared to showcase their skills and sportsmanship in the upcoming event, representing the country with pride and determination. Twelve teams are competing in the AVC Challenge Cup, with Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and Thailand grouped in Pool B, stated the PVF Chairman.
Chaudhry Yaqoob emphasized the extensive preparations undertaken over the past three months. “We gained valuable experience from the two recent events, which has prepared us well for the AVC Challenge Cup. I am very hopeful that the Pakistan team will return home with positive results.”
Pakistan will play its first group match against Kazakhstan on June 2 (Sunday) and face Thailand on June 3 (Monday). The quarter finals are scheduled for June 6, with the semifinals and finals set for June 8 and June 9, respectively.
Murad Jehan will lead the Green Shirts in the AVC Challenge Cup, with Muhammad Kasheef
Naveed as Vice-Captain. The squad also includes Waleed Khan, Murad Khan, Aimal Khan,
Usman Faryad Ali, Fakhar Ud Din, Afaq Khan, Abdul Zaheer, Musawer Khan, Muhammad
Hamad, Ali Haider, Nasir Ali, and Muhammad Yaseen.
Argentine Ruben Wolochin will serve as Head Coach. Brazilian Lucas Rodrigues will join the
team as a Physical Trainer, supported by Assistant Coach Muhammad Ismail Khan and Analyst
Juan Cobucci.
