Islamabad : Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment, and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan underscored the critical role of trade corridors and access to ports in enhancing economic ties with Central Asian nations during a meeting with Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Yerzhan Kastafin on Saturday. He highlighted that Pakistan’s geographical position makes it a gateway for Central Asian countries to global markets. The minister added that access to Pakistani ports can significantly boost bilateral trade, particularly in industrial and agricultural products.
The minister proposed the establishment of display centers to showcase Pakistani industrial products for the international business community. These centers, he noted, would serve as one-stop hubs for promoting Pakistani goods, fostering trade, and attracting foreign buyers. Stressing the need for better road infrastructure, Abdul Aleem Khan remarked that improved connectivity is vital to attracting foreign investment, which remains a top priority for Pakistan to stabilize its economy.
Ambassador Yerzhan Kastafin shared his views on expanding investment and trade corridors between the two nations. He noted that strengthening trade and economic relations with Pakistan aligns with Kazakhstan’s broader regional goals. He expressed optimism that ongoing efforts would yield tangible progress in bilateral cooperation in the coming days, particularly in the domains of commerce and infrastructure.
The ambassador also lauded Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, hospitality, and cuisine, describing his experience in the country as highly pleasant. He termed the meeting with the minister as a positive step toward fostering stronger ties, highlighting the shared historical, religious, and cultural affinities between the two nations as a solid foundation for further collaboration.
