Parliamentary Diplomacy: Ayaz Sadiq Meets Azerbaijani PM, Discusses Regional Solidarity

Baku: Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, led a parliamentary delegation that held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, in Baku.

During the meeting, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq termed his recent interactions with President Ilham Aliyev and Speaker Sahiba Gafarova as positive and constructive.

He congratulated Prime Minister Asadov on the successful hosting of the ECO Summit and said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in the summit symbolized solidarity and goodwill between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The Speaker expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s unwavering support to Pakistan’s stance on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and welcomed Azerbaijan’s announcement of $2 billion investment in Pakistan.

He emphasized the need to further strengthen inter-parliamentary relations between the two brotherly countries and proposed hosting a trilateral Speakers’ Conference in Islamabad this September.

Prime Minister Ali Asadov reiterated Azerbaijan’s principled position on the Kashmir issue and thanked Pakistan for its support on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Both sides welcomed the implementation of the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Prime Minister Asadov reaffirmed that Azerbaijan will make no compromises on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
